You will need to obtain your voice for comedy before you get out there and deal with that brutal world referred to as an audience. You’ll have to get the thinking on paper and do some writing.

Use a note pad with lined paper (preferably letter-size paper or smaller) and jot down any thought you have. Anything that is exceptional to you or your family could be considered. Do not use situations that usually are confidential in nature. Your friends as well as family members may not really like you after that.

Proceed to some comedy performances and analyze professional comedians. You will not notice the similar routine however it’s a great approach to look at them to get some observation in what you want to perform. Get to know some of them so that you could get your foot in the door.

Work on some stand-up comedy material for yourself. Observe what you may discover within yourself which could possibly end up being workable as a good comedy piece. Make use of circumstances that you really feel have a whole lot of sensation and significance.

Once you have enough to carry on for a while then get an open mic practice session. Take your own note pad in the event you need a skills update. Hit up the crowd with some jokes and help to make yourself noticeable as much as possible.

While you’re out, and if you observe something which could be a premise for future comedy material then take notes of your findings and conclusions.

People love to hear you tell jokes. Your family and friends rave about exactly how much you could get people to laugh. They seem to consider that stand-up comedy can be your true calling. At this point you have to learn how humorous you are as well as what you could do to make the most of this gift.

See some of the skilled comedians on television. Examine the way they perform their routines and share their stories. When you are a born storyteller, then you can certainly start by doing that. Or perhaps if you are the kind that may be really observant, then you might want to enter that sub-genre. Regardless if you strike the best time, you should not rest on your laurels. There will always be new material that you could research from.

Get some family and friends together and show your material. You can ask all of them to give you their thoughts on your efficiency. Feel free to inform them to be sincere. It may be challenging with someone that you’re acquainted with simply because they really don’t wish to hurt your feelings once they feel you suck and should improve. Be sure to have notes.

Evaluate your notes in order to deal with strengths and weak points. Review those information together with your activities on video and find out what comes closest or is right on point with the character that you perform. Whatever you do the most and the best of, is what you should start out with.

Rehearse your own stand-up acts in front of a mirror. Stick to what you do best and take out anything that isn’t part or should not be part of the act. Maintain the exact same character and style of comedy throughout. You want the audience to get used to your way of making them laugh.

Don’t quit rehearsing. The more you practice, the more you get better with your routine. Practicing is the only way you’ll get your stand-up act the way it should be. Go to various locations and watch how the audience welcomes you.

Every performance needs to be videotaped. Take a look at them soon after and just listen if you see any kind of imperfections that can be taken off for future stand-up acts. Avoid being somebody that you are not. Your acts must be unique and natural. Don’t pressure yourself to make changes that could let down your audience.

A pretty but amusing stand up comedy is really hard to obtain! Nearly everybody would like anyone that would make them laugh and look really good at the same time. Simply the preferred stand up comedian is going to do the action!

Celtics Dump Cavs From NBA Playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers finished the NBA’s regular season with the league’s best record, and LeBron James won the Most Valuable Player award in the process. Despite this success, the Cavs will be watching the rest of the NBA playoffs on TV. Cleveland was eliminated by the Boston Celtics on Thursday night, losing game six by a final score of 94-85. Boston will now face the Orlando Magic for the right to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals.

The Cavs had won two of the first three games before the Celtics rebounded to win the last three en route to the series victory. In game six, Boston was priced as a -1′ point NBA betting favorite and easily covered the pointspread. The 179 combined points scored went well UNDER the posted total of 194. Heading into Game 6, Cleveland had taken the money in 8 of the last 12 games held at Boston’s TD BankNorth Garden although Boston had won 10 of 12 outright.

LeBron James didn’t go down without a fight, however, as he put up a ‘triple double’ consisting of 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists. Mo Williams added 22 points, but the Cavs received little production from the rest of the roster. For the game, the Celtics’ bench outscored their Cleveland counterparts 24-13.

Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and afterward credited his team’s experience:

“Winning is gratifying. You’re playing the best team in basketball; the challenge is there; you don’t have to dress it up. One thing we don’t lack is confidence. We’re a veteran team and we understand when it’s time to lock in as a group. I think we did just that. I think the experience is taking over.”

LeBron, meanwhile, was in a state of shock:

“The fact that it’s over right now is definitely a surprise to me. A friend of mine told me, ‘I guess you’ve got to go through a lot of nightmares before you realize your dream.’ That’s what’s going on for me individually right now.”

There’s been much speculation about the future of the reigning MVP-LeBron is eligible to opt out of his contract this summer and there’s no shortage of teams that would love to have him. For now, he’s keeping his cards close to the vest:

“I want to win. That’s my only thing, my only concern. I’ve always prided myself — it’s all about winning for me and I think the Cavs are committed to doing that. But at the same time, I’ve given myself options to this point. Me and my team, we have a game plan that we’ll execute and we’ll see where we’re at.”

The Celtics will now face the Orlando Magic, who have rampaged through the first two rounds of the playoffs. Orlando’s conference semifinal sweep of the Atlanta Hawks was the most dominating 4 game series victory in NBA history, with an average per game margin of victory of 25.2 points.

Superstar Shortage At NBA All Star Game

The NBA All Star game was played without a couple of high profile participants this year as the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson would not play due to injury. Kobe and ‘AI’ were the latest in a string of injuries to All Star players that also claimed Portland’s Brandon Roy and New Orleans’ Chris Paul.

Kobe Bryant has been plagued with minor injuries all year, but missed the Lakers’ last three games prior to the All Star contest due to an ankle sprain. Los Angeles is hopeful that by not playing in the game that Kobe will be able to return to action immediately after play resumes following the All Star break. Bryant did travel to Dallas to participate in All Star game festivities.

Iverson has missed Philadelphia’s past five games due to an illness suffered by one of his young children. Unlike Kobe, Iverson wasn’t expected to be in Dallas this weekend due to the nature of his situation. It’s debatable that Iverson deserved an All Star game nod in the first place. He quickly wore out his welcome in Memphis to start the year, and eventually landed back in Philadelphia where he’s averaged 14.4 points per game since his return. He was voted in to the starting lineup by NBA fans, and this renewed calls from the media to revise the procedure for selecting All Star game participants. Many would be pleased if the fans were taken out of the process of selecting the starting lineup altogether.

Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks was chosen to replace Bryant in the Western Conference lineup, while New York’s David Lee was the East’s fill in for Iverson. The West already had two ‘fill ins’ named to their roster as Denver’s Chauncy Billups and the LA Clippers’ Chris Kaman took the place of Chris Paul and Brandon Roy respectively.

NBA betting enthusiasts had several options on the menu beginning with the annual ‘rookies vs. sophomores’ game on Saturday. The Sophomores were a -12 point favorite with the total set at 245′ but were crushed by the rookie team. This year’s game in Dallas set an all time record for All Star game attendance.

The Effect Of Social Media And Facebook Smileys

The most popular way to communicate with friends, family, colleagues and classmates today is via Facebook. Users communicate through a number of different ways on the social networking site. There’s the instant messenger, also known as Facebook chat, poking, private messages, wall posts and status updates. If you’ve used any of these then you know that sometimes the boundaries of text-based communication can bring along some challenges in conveying the entire message or meaning. Here is where Facebook smileys come in. They can help you to make your intent a little clearer.

As we know social networking and e-mail are online usage that is dominating the attention of US computer users. According to a new Nielsen Company survey 40% of online time is spent on these activities along with video games. The “San Francisco Chronicle” believes the Nielsen data shows that Facebook could be the key for changing online trends.

With its 500+ million users worldwide Facebook allows members to recommend news, videos and other online topics. Research shows that Americans spend just under 23 percent of their time online on blogs or social networking, which is a 43 percent jump compared to June of last year. It’s apparent that more accounts have been opened as the Baby Boomers jump on to the site to reconnect with old friends, family and classmates. What was once a networking site strictly for college students has now expanded to the corporate world of professionals and adults as well as teens and kids of all ages.

In addition, recent industry research shows that social networking sites reach more women than men. The global report released by comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, states that women spend 30% more time on social networking sites than men. Apparently the reach of social networking among women is the highest in Latin America and North American regions. Although women account for 47.9% of total unique visitors to the social networking category they consume 57% of pages. They also account for 57% of total minutes spent on these sites.

Another thing women likely enjoy doing while visiting social networking sites like Facebook is chatting. With the chatting comes the usage of smileys. Many ladies enjoy chatting with Facebook smileys. They are so cute and accurate of how one is feeling. They say what a person cannot always put into words. Plus they are fun. Maybe female Facebook users are more likely to use them than men are. Either way these little emoticons say it all, covering just about any emotion one can think of. They can depict anger, excitement, sadness, happiness, confusion, innocence, flirty and love-struck.

Atlanta Tops St. Louis In NFL Preseason Action

It may only be preseason in the NFL, but the Atlanta Falcons are making a statement that they’ll be a factor in the NFC. The Falcons starters behind QB Matt Ryan were almost flawless, and left the reserves with a 14-0 lead before eventually beating the St. Louis Rams 20-13 at the Edward Jones Dome on Friday night.

Running back Michael Turner was unstoppable in his limited playing time, churning out 65 yards in the Falcons opening drive. After the game, he confirmed that the Falcons offense had placed a priority on sound execution:

“We wanted to come out and execute. They were preaching that all week and we wanted to show that on game day. We’re way better than we were last year at this time.”

Quarterback Matt Ryan was 7 of 8 for 81 yards and a touchdown pass before he called it a night. Tony Gonzalez caught Ryans TD pass and after the game was effusive in his praise for the young signal caller:

“He’s a great quarterback. It’s obvious he’s figuring things out. He has a great arm, talent, and knows how to play with poise.”

It was a disappointing home debut for new Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo, who saw his team blown away from the opening whistle before a half empty stadium. Still, he tried to frame the loss as a learning experience:

“Just like I said to the team, we’d have liked to have started out a little better. You’ve got to come out and take it to them.”

Rams safety O.J. Atogwe concurred:

“This was a fabulous game for us. That’s the reason you play the preseason. Going against a team like Atlanta, a top-caliber team, it allows us to reassess what we’ve been doing.”

Falcons coach Mike Smith was most excited about the improved play of his rushing defense:

“We were much improved against the run. It’s something we have to continue to get better at. We still had some missteps.”

Atlanta will get the NFL regular season underway on Sunday, September 13th as they host the Miami Dolphins while the Rams will head to the Pacific Northwest for a game against the Seahawks in Seattle.

Beckham’s Road To Recovery Longer Than Expected

When David Beckham suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon in a Serie A game in mid-March, doctors gave him an outside chance of returning in time for the World Cup or at the very least part of the MLS season. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like either of these favorable scenarios will transpire. In a recent statement to the media Beckham broke the news that his recovery is behind schedule and he won’t be able to resume playing soccer until November at the earliest.

This timetable does leave open the possibility that he could return to action should the Los Angeles Galaxy make the MLS playoffs. As far as a potential return to England’s national team the first realistic opportunity for Beckham to play would be in a European Championship qualifier against Wales in March 2011. He’s been assured that he’s welcome back at AC Milan in Italy’s Serie A league whenever he’s back in playing shape.

Beckham, who is still using crutches to get around, explained his recovery process:

“I won’t be running for another three months, so I will be playing again in, probably, November.”

“My mentality is to kind of push it and get moving and running and soon as possible. But it’s an injury that has to take time to heal. It’s frustrating. It’s obviously disappointing because I’ve been working for the last two years to get into the English squad [for the World Cup].”

“At the moment, it’s just getting the motion back into the ankle, the tendon, because it’s still repairing. I’m trying to get mobilization back into the ankle.”

Beckham also discussed the injury itself:

“It was like being hit by a hockey puck. I thought someone was behind me and kicked me. Obviously no one was there and I saw my foot hanging and then I felt down there and there was a hole.”

The former England captain would have likely served in a reserve capacity with the World Cup squad. Even without Beckham in the lineup and with lingering injury issues plaguing Manchester United superstar Wayne Rooney soccer betting enthusiasts are bullish on England’s prospects this summer. The ‘Three Lions’ are currently the third favorite in World Cup future betting behind Brazil and Spain.

Getting Into The Art And Entertainment Industry

The arts and entertainment industry is a great industry to get into if you have an artistic or creative style. Everyone has some sort of creative and unique side to them and art or entertainment is a great way to express that.

There’s something that’s really neat about being able to write a story or paint a painting and be able to take pride in what you’ve created. Whenever people look at it and praise it you get a really good feeling knowing that it’s your creation that they’re praising.

This pride that you get from showing your artwork can make you feel really good about yourself, and obviously this is a good thing. It can also be great to get into art as a hobby because instead of watching tv you can be doing something productive.

Most people in the world waste their time watching tv or doing other things that really aren’t productive at all, but if you got into some sort of art or entertainment then you could spend your time doing much more productive things. Just imaging what you could accomplish with all of the time that you spend watching tv. Most people could take all of that time and turn it into a fully written book in a few months. That book could then be taken to a publisher to see if it could be published. That’s much better than wasting time watching tv.

The hardest part about getting out of doing things such as watching tv and getting into something such as writing a book is the whole mental aspect of doing it. It can be hard to suddenly stop watching tv and start writing a book, but it completely pays off.

It’s good for me to have that type of mindset because it allows me to get a lot of things done. You should work on trying to change your mindset to start watching less tv and get into more artistic things.

Lions Beat Skins To End 19 Game Losing Run

The Detroit Lions nineteen game losing streak is over. On Sunday afternoon at Ford Field in Detroit the Lions held on for a 19-14 win over the Washington Redskins. The Lions hadn’t won a game since December 23, 2007 and had already tied the second longest losing streak in NFL history. Their run of futility included a 0-16 mark in 2008, the first winless season since the NFL expanded its schedule to sixteen games.

If you were going to bet on a NFL football game this past weekend, the Lions may not have been the most attractive position. Sports betting enthusiasts who took Detroit as a +6 home favorite were rewarded with the outright victory. It was the Lions first pointspread cover of the 2009 NFL season, while the Redskins have yet to get the money for their backers this year.

Lions owner William Clay Ford said in postgame comments that he hopes the end of the streak signals a new winning tradition in the Motor City:

“We not only got the monkey off our back, we got King Kong off our back. I’m hoping that this gets us over that hump and gives us a winning attitude.”

Dominic Raiola has played in Detroit for his entire nine year career, and he too expressed his relief that the streak had come to an end:

“I’ve always watched, but I’ve never been in this situation before. No team has been in this situation before. No one has gone 0-16 and then had to try to win a game the next year.”

Rookie QB Matthew Stafford had the best game of his young career He gave his thoughts on his performance and the late game anticipation that preceded Detroit finally putting one in the win column:

“I’m having fun. It’s a great game we get to play. I figured I’d just let the crowd noise tell me what happened. When it got really quiet, I couldn’t take it, so I looked up, and saw them running, and then the tackle, and then I saw the clock was at zero.”

Detroit will try to start an actual winning streak next weekend as they take on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. The Bears are 11 point favorites in that contest. Detroit will host the Pittsburgh Steelers the following weekend before a road trip to Green Bay and game against the Packers on October 18th. Washington will host Tampa Bay next Sunday, with the Redskins a -7 home favorite. They’ll play at Carolina on October 11th and then return home for a game against Kansas City the following weekend.

Eskimos Outlast Stampeders In Wild CFL Matchup

The Edmonton Eskimos survived a wild back and forth CFL shootout against the Calgary Stampeders before prevailing 38-35 to take over sole possession of first place in the CFL West. Ricky Ray hit Fred Stamps with a 23 yard touchdown pass with just nine seconds to play to earn the victory, erasing the lead that Calgary had earned with their own TD pass less than a half minute earlier. Edmonton improved to 4-3 with the win, while Calgary dropped to 3-4.

Winning QB Ricky Ray said that he enjoyed playing in the shootout:

“That was a ton of fun. In the CFL you get to play in a lot of games like this, especially against a guy like (Calgary quarterback Henry) Burris, who has done this to us. It’s great to come out on the winning end of a shoot-out like that. It’s a great uplift for the team. It’s a huge win for us.”

With a bye week on deck, Eskimos head coach Richie Hall said that the win couldn’t have come at a better time:

“Regardless of what happens, we are coming back in first place. Now we have one up on Calgary. It’s going to be a dogfight for all the teams in the West and any chance you get to win, especially a win like this, it’s a real bonus. It’s great for our confidence.”

Calgarys Burris remembered a very similar situation in a game last year where Edmonton won by the same margin on a last play touchdown:

“They got us last year in this situation and of course you didn’t think it was going to happen again or even could happen again. It felt so great to get that late touchdown and with 38 seconds on the clock nobody was even thinking about last year. We had to stop Jackson and we didn’t. And we had to stop Ray and we didn’t. Kudos to Edmonton.”

Both teams have a bye next week. Calgary returns to action on Aug. 28 in Toronto while the Eskimos will next play on Aug. 29 when they host Hamilton.

Iron Chef Invades America

‘Iron Chef’ is a crazy Japanese import cooking game show that features accomplished chefs from around the world going head to head in a competition format that’s part Julia Child, part pro wrestling. Even non-foodies are drawn to the show for its sheer entertainment value.

The story behind the show goes something like this–there’s this rich dude, MC Kaga who summons the finest chefs in Japan to do battle in his kitchen stadium. Needless to say, a TV studio wouldn’t suffice for such a production: the kitchen stadium is in Kaga’s castle. Also in residence are three Iron Chefs, each representing a different type of cuisine (Chinese, French and Japanese).

Adding even more ’spice’ to the show–each dish must include the ‘theme ingredient’ which is kept a mystery until immediately before the competition begins. With great pomp and amid smoke and pyrotechnics, Kaga reveals the ‘mystery ingredient’. Sometimes it’ll be something basic like apples or tofu, other times it’s more obscure like ox tail or some otherworldly shellfish.

At that point, the chefs have an hour to prepare a seven course meal, served to a discerning panel of B-List celebrities that usually include a couple of ‘TV Presenters’ and a ‘fortune teller’. The judges rate and discuss each course and declare a winner.

What really brings the show together is the announcin–”though I’m sure it loses something having been dubbed from Japanese. There’s a hysterical play by play announcer, an excitable color commentator, and an even more hyperactive sideline correspondent who will break in the commentary frequently with revelations such as observing that a chef is using fresh ginger in a dish or some similar piece of trivia. Apparently one of the announcers is a legit sumo wrestling announcer in Japan, making the strange juxtaposition between cooking shows and wrestling even more complete.

The dishes that the chefs come up with are always pretty amazing, creative and complex–if not always appetizing. Some of their creations look yummy, but a dessert with a compulsory use of carp isnt exactly my cup of green tea. Nonetheless, the creative process and intensity of the competitors is amazing. Even as challenging as this is, the requirement that a theme ingredient be used in every component of the meal really ups the ante.

The Food Network has recently begun production of a native grown version called ‘Iron Chef America’. It has a similar format, but really loses a lot from the inscrutable original.
